Our Mission: CONTACT Beaver Valley's mission is to, in an understanding manner, provide a listening ear, a kind voice, and an appropriate resource to any caller or client.
CONTACT Beaver Valley provides confidential telephone response to all callers. We take calls from veterans in distress, elderly people with crises, domestic violence issues, teenage issues including bullying, suicide prevention calls, homelessness, counseling referrals and heating and utility issues.
For volunteers in Beaver County we offer training and support to our phone workers and the community. Volunteers, can learn to listen well and respond appropriately, learn about our Beaver County community and the resources available for our volunteers. Volunteering with Contact gives you an opportunity meet interesting, caring people, and help others in a meaningful way.
For over 30 years CONTACT Beaver Valley has provided Beaver County and surrounding communities with a helpline staffed by volunteers who provide empathy and support. The Center began taking calls in June 1980 and provided continuous 24-hour phone coverage from January 1983 through December 2010. In January 2011 the over-night shift was suspended and we now operate from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm. Over 180,000 calls have been answered on the helpline.
CONTACT Beaver Valley is accredited by CONTACT USA and affiliated with the American Association of Suicidology.
CONTACT has been recognized by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Beaver County with their 2006 Community Impact Award. This annual award is given to one of RSVP’s 65 Beaver County affiliates for "outstanding service to Beaver County, based on excellence and the agency’s overall impact on the community." In addition, in 2005, Contact was given the Beaver County’s Human Service Forum’s Spirit of Caring Award. The award is a traveling plaque presented annually to "an agency for innovative programming and excellence in it’s mission."
